GrabCar (Economy) Weekly Earning Structure – Penang

We hope that our new incentive scheme has brought you higher earnings, especially during the busiest hours. In our ongoing efforts to help you earn more every time you drive with Grab, we are continuously working on improving our incentive scheme to better reward you for your hard work!This week, we’re introducing NEW and HIGHER guaranteed earnings per hour. Now, when you drive during our new Ultra Peak hours, you can earn up to RM48 per hour in guaranteed gross fares for completing just 3 trips.

This week’s guide to greater earnings!
Make sure you satisfy the following requirements for earnings.

Whether you are currently a full-time driver or a part-time driver, there’s something for everyone! Our updated earning structure aims to cater to your availability and maximise your earning potential.- 4 types of guarantees: Ultra Peak, High Peak, Peak, and Bonus. Each type of hour has different guaranteed earnings. You can enjoy the FLEXIBILITY to drive at your convenience, while being able to plan ahead so that you maximise your earnings! If you can, drive during Ultra Peak hours as our guarantees are at its highest at those times.
Example: Ultra Peak hours will bring the highest gross guaranteed earnings, which are up to RM48 gross guaranteed earnings* per hour for Tier 1! - Guarantees: The more you drive, the more you earn – the more trips you complete in an hour, the higher your total gross guaranteed earnings per hour!
Example: Completing 1 trip during the Ultra Peak Hour on Monday guarantees you gross earnings* of RM30; completing 3 trips guarantees you gross earnings* of up to RM48. - 2 tiers of earnings: Tier 1 requires at least RM350 fare collection per week, while Tier 2 applies to anyone who collects below RM350 in fares.
- Top up: All hourly guaranteed earnings are before Grab’s 20% commission.
This new earnings structure allows you to maximize your earnings EVERY HOUR based on your availability!

Example 1: If you achieve Tier 1 (RM350 in weekly fares collected), you could drive with us from 7-8am on Monday (Ultra Peak) to potentially earn up to RM48 in gross guaranteed fares for the hour, depending on how many trips you completed in that hour!
Example 2: Even if you do not hit the RM350 fare target, you can still be eligible for extra earnings by driving during our Ultra Peak, High Peak, Peak and Bonus Hours!
Referral Bonus
Refer your friends to become GrabCar drivers and earn up to RM350*!
- Refer a friend who has a driving statement from another e-hailing platform** and earn a RM350* referral bonus!
- Refer a friend to become a driver and earn RM120* referral bonus.
*The referred driver must complete 30 trips within 14 days from the day activated in order to be eligible for your referral bonus.
**Only driving statements from other e-hailing platforms with driving history before 31st August 2016 will be eligible.

- Use Waze / Google Maps to get to your passengers pick up and drop off point
- Be polite and humble to passengers.
- Drive safely — for example: avoid texting when driving, drive within the speed limit, be alert to traffic lights and other vehicles around you, and remember to put your seat belt on.
- Honour all GrabPay and promo bookings.
Be at our identified BUSY AREAS during peak hours! Busy areas have higher number of bookings, which means more jobs for you. Please refer to the busy areas on this .
The Fine Print
Please do remember to read all of the fine print to ensure that you qualify for incentives. Also, please do take some time to read the T&Cs in your driver app to ensure that you are able to perform your best as a Grab driver on our platform. To qualify for earnings, you must:
- Maintain an average driver rating of 4.0 and above.
- Maintain a Weekly Acceptance Score of 80%. Your Weekly Acceptance Score will be reset every Monday at 12:01am to 0%.
- Maintain a 15% and lower cancellation rate for the week. Weekly driver cancellation rate* is calculated as Number of Driver Cancellations in a week divided by Number of Accepted Bookings in a week. *For earnings purposes only, bookings cancelled by passengers will NOT affect weekly driver cancellation rate. However, high overall cancellation rate will still be monitored.
- Payout will be based on your prorated online & available time (note: you must be online AND available for jobs to be eligible for hourly guarantees). The amount of time that you were online & available will be calculated based on the number of minutes your were online for that hourly block. For example, if you are online & available for 45 minutes and complete one trip in that hour, you will be eligible for 75% (45/60 mins) of the guarantee for that hour. To maximize your earnings, do stay online for the full hourly block to get more jobs and increase your total gross earnings! Do note that you need to pick up at least one job per hour in order to qualify for guarantee for that hour.
- Earnings will be calculated based on your weekly unique passenger count. Each unique passenger entitles you to ONE completed ride for the week. Only the fare amount of your FIRST unique passenger booking will be considered for the calculation of your hourly guarantee.
- GrabCar will collect a 20% commission from your gross fares, including the guaranteed portion (i.e. 20% commission will apply to both your collected fares AND the top-up portion).
- If your fare collected for total trips completed is higher than the gross guaranteed earnings for the hour, you will not be given a further top-up – you will earn the collected fare as per usual. We will only reimburse the difference if your collected fare is lower than the gross guaranteed earnings for the hour.
- We will automatically cash out any amount ABOVE RM150 from your credit wallet into your bank account every Friday. This minimum credit wallet balance is applicable for cashing out incentives/any additional credit balance. If your credit wallet falls below RM150, all your credit will remain in your credit wallet and you can continue to use this for commission deductions. However, you will not be able to cash any credit out if the balance is below RM150.
- For instances where fraudulent bookings or behaviour are found (e.g. driver excessively asking passenger to cancel on their behalf), an internal investigation will be conducted by Grab. Drivers may or may not qualify for earnings payout, depending on the findings of the investigation.
- You can now check the final fare collected for every job from your driver app job history. Add the final fare for every job completed during the week to find out your total fare collected for the week.
- If your fare collected for total trips completed is higher than the gross guaranteed earnings for the hour, you will not be given a further top-up – you will earn the collected fare as per usual. We will only reimburse the difference if your collected fare is lower than the gross guaranteed earnings for the hour.
- Payout will be on a weekly basis.
- This earning structure is applicable for GrabCar (Economy) – Penang as per the week communicated. Any previous earning structure is not applicable.
